You may be a fitness buff. But for some reason, you find it hard to get rid of flabby fats. Especially at the sides of your belly. Thats what they call love handles. You try so hard to look for ways on how to burn fats off love hands and get a sexy and trim waistline. But nothing seems to work.
Most perfect body building results are just a love-handle off away. Everything else is perfectly sculpted except the love handles. Lots of sit-ups, running, and bending dont seem to work. Why? Its due mostly to wrong muscles being worked out. The muscles used in a workout are in no way connected to the area of the body that needs sculpting. Just remember the body building principle: Unless the right muscles are used in a workout, fats in the area that needs burning will never be burned off. The same goes with how to burn fats off love hands for a sexy and trim waistline.
Why Not Sit-Ups?
Sit ups are good for burning front and back fats of the belly-mostly back fats. But it is a weak technique if youre targeting your love handles. It may move the side muscles to squeeze off fats a bit. Like, when a little twist of the trunk is involved while doing sit-ups. But it barely uses the side muscles to wring off fats. Hence, there are those who have six packs but also still have love handles at their sides. They dont know how to burn fats off love handles. This technique is vital for a sexy and trim waistline all the way.
Correct sit-ups is gauged by the pain you feel in your tummy muscles. It means the muscles there are being used to press off fats to gradually reveal only muscles through the skin, minus the flab. More sit-ups then develop the muscles to high definition. But mostly, you wont feel pain on your sides despite correct sit-ups performance. Its not how to burn fats off love handles. It may give marvelous results for a sexy and trim waistline but the handles still protrude.
Running Will Never Work!
Some fitness buffs run daily. When asked why, theyd say they want fats off their bellies and sides. They think the profuse sweating they see on them comes from their belly fats. No, the sweating does not come from belly fats burning. It comes from the sweat on their faces and chest. Muscles not used will never burn any fat. When running, your face and chest sweat out due to the action of rapid breathing (the face and chest are involved here) and vigorous arms swinging. Not the love handles.
The Right Exercise
Simply stand up and bend slowly to your right side, as far as you can, while tip-toeing the right foot. Now, while in that position, try to touch your left love handle. Youll notice that its stretched stiff. That means the muscle there is being used, as it is stretched to the full, and wringing out fats. Do the same with the other side. This is among correct ways on how to burn fats off love handles and achieve a sexy and trim waistline. Do this for 10 to 15 minutes several times a day. Use weights gradually with the opposite hand.
Now, dont expect amazing results within 3 days or a week. This requires patient persistence. You can probably see results within weeks or months. And it should be done with proper diet and a holistic fitness program that involves other parts of the body. You cant have trim sinewy sides while having a flabby chest and belly. Proper results means proper ways on how to burn fats off love handles for a sexy and trim waistline.

The cases involved 10 CVS pharmacies and six Walgreens pharmacies in Indiana. In 2006, an Indianapolis television station aired news segments about customers prescription records being discovered in outdoor trash bins where they could have been found and used to commit identity theft, although no actual consumer is known to have been victimized.
After investigating, the Office of the Indiana Attorney General filed administrative complaints in 2007 with the Board of Pharmacy against the licenses of individual pharmacies and pharmacists involved in the data disclosures at the stores.
Disclosing confidential medical information violates state and federal laws, including the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA. The federal Office of Civil Rights also investigated the privacy breaches; and eventually it reached its own settlement with CVS where that company agreed to pay the federal government $2.25 million in civil penalties. The OCRs federal case involving Walgreen Co. is ongoing.

a 4oz flame-grilled sirloin steak topped with Portobello mushrooms and brown gravy served with steamed veggies (broccoli and carrots) and herb potatoes

It doesn't sound like a whole lot of food but man did it satisfy our appetites.

Here's the breakdown of the dish:

Calories: 330
Fat: 10g
Fiber: 8g
Estimated Weight Watchers Points: 7

Another healthy dish at Applebee's is the Grilled Teriyaki Steak Shrimp Skewers

Calories: 370
Fat: 7g
Estimated Weight Watchers Points: 5

They also offer a variety of healthy chicken salads at Applebee's although some are very calorie dense.

However, here a some tips to reduce the calories and fat so you can enjoy just about any Applebee's salad:

-Many salads come with meat, eggs, croutons and dressings which can add a lot of unnecessary calories.

A better option is to order the half-size option Applebee's offers rather than the full-size

-Many salad dressings contain 200 calories or more for just 2 tablespoons and a lot of restaurant salads are drowned in a good 1/4 cup or more. That takes a healthy dish and turns into a high-calorie, fattening meal instead.

Instead, ask for the dressing on the side and lightly dip each bite or simply order a reduced calorie, reduced fat or fat free variety if available.

-It's easy to assume that any salad is healthy. But, a lot of restaurant salads contain hidden calories in dressings and depending on how the meat is prepared.

Order grilled chicken or shrimp salads and avoid anything that says "fried". You'll not only save yourself the calories but your heart will love you for it as well.

Haley loved her adopted mom and dad to pieces.  However, they were not the people that made her, and she always felt a need to find out who her biological parents were.  She had tried for years to find information about her birth parents.  Her adoptive parents only knew the name of her mother and where she used to live.  The adoption agency that her adoptive parents went through was unwilling to provide her with any other information.  She searched and searched the internet and the name of her mother.  She couldnt find any information anywhere.  She had started to think that perhaps she would never find out who her birth parents were.  She had so many questions to ask them.
She wanted to look at them and see if she could find a resemblance.  She wanted to know the reasons that she was put up for adoption and she wanted to thank them for giving her the opportunity to have the life that she had led with her beloved adoptive parents.  She just couldnt get over the need to talk to them, to see them, to at least know that they were alive and where they were.  Haley gave up for a while because she was out of resources and out of leads. However, upon another trip to the adoption agency, she found that there was a new girl working.
She wondered if this woman would give her the information she needed.  As she asked, the woman began to shake her head before Haley even finished her question.  Apologetically, the woman told Haley that she couldnt give out any information.  Then, to Haleys surprise, the woman leaned closer to Haley and said, I was adopted too.  I cant give you any information about your birth parents, but I can give you the URL to a website that helped me out a lot.  Then, the woman wrote a website down on a sheet of paper and handed it to Haley.
Back at home, Haley went to www.CourtRegistry.org and saw that there was a space for a name.  She thought for a moment about the woman at the adoption agency and she typed in her biological mothers name.  Within seconds, the website provided her with a new address and phone number.  Haley absolutely could not believe it.  All these years she had searched and within seconds, she had found out where her real mother was.  After coming to terms with the situation, Haley finally dialed the number that had popped up on the website.
When the womans voice answered, Haley said, Hi.  My name is Haley and I am looking for my birth mother.  Did you give a baby girl up for adoption thirty three years ago?  There was a long pause and the woman on the other line began to sob.  Haley couldnt believe that she had finally found her birth mother.  Since then, she has gotten to know both her birth mother and half siblings.  Her father had passed away some time before that, but Haley was thankful to know the rest of her family.  She could never have found the information without www.CourtRegistry.org.

The Ohio Supreme Court today moved to protect the privacy of minors medical records when the minor is not a party in a lawsuit. The case involves a lawsuit against an Ohio Planned Parenthood and attempts by a teenagers parents to obtain the medical records not only of their own daughter but of all teenagers seen at that clinic over a ten year period.
We are pleased that the court blocked the disclosure of the private medical records of teenage patients who are not directly part of a given lawsuit, said Louise Melling, Director of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project. Adults and teenagers alike need to know when they seek medical care that their private records will not be dragged into someone elses legal dispute. Confidentiality is at the core of the doctor-patient relationship and must be fiercely protected.
The court also recognized that given the wealth of detail contained in patient medical records, redaction cannot reliably protect a patients privacy.
In June 2008, the ACLU filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the case asking the court to protect the privacy of minors medical records, arguing that the confidentiality of medical records is essential to the doctor-patient relationship, minors access to reproductive health care and the right to privacy. The brief was filed on behalf of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Ohio Academy of Family Physicians; Society for Adolescent Medicine; National Association of Social Workers; National Center for Youth Law; Center for Adolescent Health the Law; Ohio NOW Education and Legal Fund; Ohio Domestic Violence Network; ACTION OHIO Coalition for Battered Women; Break the Cycle; and Women Empowered Against Violence, Inc.; the ACLU filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the Ohio Supreme Court.
Todays decision is Roe v. Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio Region No 2009-Ohio-2973.

over the past month and a half, i have reached points of exhaustion i have never before felt in my life, to the point where i had to actively make some changes in how i live my life to prevent from a complete physical and mental breakdown. it was due to nothing more than overwork, from college, art, attempting to make new personal relationships, etcetera. thankfully it has been remedied by taking things down a couple gears and focusing on taking care of myself better, physically and mentally. which strangely enough, came very naturally. i guess that means im growing upmore.
i feel much better lately.
several personal, artistic, and educational goals have been met and discovered in this time and i have been surprised at how much life has to offer, even when i think i have my direction figured out, and can expect the results, limitations, victories and failures. i really dont have a clue but its fun. i lean back on the old Ella Fitzgerald croon of I dont know where im going, but im going but i really do.
i would like to talk about Conspiracy culture and how alive, well, and influential it is particularly in American culture today. the thing is, it seems a true excersise in futility, that there is some unseen force, deity, government or something or other standing against you and your dreams.
take it from me, if you live in the United States especially, you ARE SO FREE. you are even free enough to believe you are being oppressed in any way shape or form. you are free to believe in whatever crock of shit philosophy you care to adapt that fits your plight in life, whether its based in fact or not.
i think that fact gets lost.
I hear alot of conspiracy theorists today in the United States talking about the fact their personal freedoms are being taken away. which, i look at that as nothing but empty childish excuses. read some of my work below which is well researched, and you will find that there are countless reasons behind economic, religious, and sociological oppression.
its not just the man.
its not some unseen force.
there are no conspiracies, and in the event of conspiracy theories there is only true carnival barking to perpetuate them.
i am really inspired by the people of Iran, who are normal people (college students mostly from what i hear from friends), not an army, standing up against an oppressive religious regime. there is no talk of conspiracies from these people, only action against true repression. a similar thing happened (non-violently thankfully) in the United States with the election of President Barack Obama, some even say his election has inspired the people of Iran to stand up against their regime. I have said this times before in other writings but ill put it here too, i completely support people who stand up against regimes, not a military who installs or enforces it.
In the United States there are several socialist type conspiracies floating conveniently around in the media, on blogs, and via other social networking sites spearheaded in my opinion by Alex Jones the Obama Deception.
I am not at all bothered that a conservative american has taken such a strong opinion against Obama. Of course the man is not above criticism and part of being the president, or in politics, is to take your critics opinions into consideration, which i believe he does (see his stance on health care reform). That is in sharp contrast to the opinion of former president George W Bush who gave the middle finger to his opposition intending to spend political capital. we all suffered through eight years of this.
Alot of political conspiracies in the United States forget history, basic political history at that. i see that as a trait of the fanatical political right in this country, forget facts, focus on buzz topics and carnival bark your point.
Alex Jones may have some point to make in the Obama Deception, whatever esoteric, and i can respect that process. But the fact that it focuses on Obama and Wall Street orchestrating an economic collapse implies no basic knowledge on how the system works. So with this films logic, the president should have no oversight on the economic system of this country.(more on that in a second)
Also, being that Alex Jones ran as a Republican State representative in the early 2000s in Texas, (what is the deal with politics in Texas?) means he probably has the same economic philosophy as Ronald Reagan, which got us here into this economical mess in the first place. Jones group Info Wars is a classic example of fanatical bilge. (read the Information warfare Wiki its hilarious, if deeply insulting to the scientific or political community)
in the spirit of duality, i spent five minutes with the Obama Deception before my stomach turned.it reminded me of news shows i used to see when i was a kid in the late 80s and early 90s like Hard Copy.
(remember that one?)
it had a tabloid journalistic feel, and based on its opening i am assuming there is a portion dedicated to celebrating Ron Paul
(Reagan man, Mr. Deregulate the world)
by the way Mr Jones, excellent journalistic choice in depicting some African American militant group chanting yes we can to open your film. Because i can tell you as a white man, living in Oakland, they are everywhere and i feel constantly endangered. (sarcasm) It was also a great move to highlight your journalistic integrity with a rant by KRS-ONE about Burger King which i am still trying to untangle its meaning.
GREAT representation of African Americans. good one Alexbut you are in america and free to do so.
I would love to hear a conversation between Alex Jones and say, a homeowner that was able to save their home from foreclosure as a result of President Obamas economic stimulus legislation.
People talk about their liberties being taken away, and blame the system. This is funny to me because the system had its power taken away in the 1980s, by Ronald Reagan, including laws that guaranteed FAIR, FACT BASED, and equal media coverage of ALL political parties, (see Fairness Doctrine) even your Republican Party Alex Jones.
Parts of government oversight have been reinstalled over time, most famously by George W Bush and the Patriot Act but part and parcel, the United States, socially and economically have been a wild, unbridled horse for nearly thirty years. Take a moment to read about Reagans government deregulation and compare that to FDRs New Deal and Obamas current economic legislation to see what i mean. the results on this country have been undeniable and history will never forget this, no matter what spin any fanatic puts on it.
As proof of vast government deregulation, the country has no competitive free markets (which is a conservative ideal but really means monopoly) for health care, entertainment, and basic community economics in general. the examples of that are health care that 50+ million americans have no shot at, two entertainment conglomerates that bilge fanatical right wing news coverage and give us the same movies, TV shows and music over and over again, while forcing a liberal news show like the Daily Show to feature on the COMEDY CHANNEL. (this is conservative ownerships biggest fuck you to liberal americans, finishing slightly ahead of Bill Os brilliant NAZI liberal musing).
Also, the average person currently has no chance in owning a local business and competing economically in its neighborhood.
some people equate the remedy to small government, but we as americans have lived that ideal for 30 years, and again the results are pretty obvious. One is even free enough to orchestrate a piece of garbage like the Obama Deception, and have it be taken seriously.
i think what conspiracy theorists attempt to acheive is the supremely unscientific notion of no truth. that information is constantly being manipulated before it reaches you, that you can trust no one.
the answer to that is deregulate everything, make government as small as possible (because they are you with laws like dont run red lights, and dont kill people, and oh by the way assigning value to the money you spent in paying your internet service provider to read this) so that you are free to live life on your own free will, steal, own, whatever you want, to exist on an island of connected ideals.
i think Alex Jones wants the wild west back, maybe thats the Texas connection.
Also, all this NONSENSE about the New World Order, is very funny on a few points. One, most famously it was coined by George HW Bush (Conservative Republican next president after Reagan) in reference to the end of the Cold War, and how global super powers would emerge.
Its laughable that anyone could be against some kind of global economics or protection, when some parts of the world STILL, in the 21st century, dont have running water, access to education, medicine or technology, or live under military regimes.
in fact most of the world still lives in poverty.
Go ahead, call me a bleeding heart.
this brings me to the idea of no truth, its really quite religious isnt it?
if you are a person of science, (true science not a bible scholar, you are just another literary major, sorry) then we base our lives on discovering and verifying truths. if you believe so much in your conspiracies, in whatever context, GO OUT AND PROVE THEM. you might discover some interesting things about yourself and your beliefs.
i think its really dangerous to have people create your beliefs for you..
to change gears lets talk a bit about art
if you have been following me via MySpace, thank you so much for sticking with me over the past couple months. my flight orchestra page gets inundated with spam daily to the point where i have had to take extreme measures to avoid the process worsening. i am really sorry if you have been spammed because of me. Friend Blaster software has become a huge spam problem on MySpace and is squashing out the little guy in my opinion, and it makes me wonder how many of my 3000+ friends are actual people.
Just so everyone knows, Friend Blaster software works by worming through friend accounts on MySpace, its basically a virus with no malicious code attached. Actually, sometimes there is malicious code (i found one that tried to download a fake anti-virus program), which i personally tracked the user down and reported them a few months ago, to have the behavior stopped. its annoying.
the thing that really sucks about this is Friend Blaster software is used by viral campaigns, so as i understand it, some people actually make money by ruining MySpace in this way. i take a very pro-defensive stance for MySpace because any indie musician has MySpace to thank for any kind of fan support.
Also, i have dealt with the deeply philosophical and religious element via my MySpace page, which i dont mind really. But it just makes me wonder what about my art appeals to them. maybe its because i make sense hahahah
I wonder if Surrealists like Debussy, Monet, or Cezanne had to deal with this too. it makes me chuckle. if you find yourself a person of deep faith, i respect you. you can think and live by whatever you want, i just hope that it hurts no one, and its beliefs carry that same attribute in any contingency.
the next few months will bring some activity from me as Flight Orchestra. The last version of How I Realized Myself will be a live performance version entitled NEO BEBOP CHANCE MUSIC CONSTRUCTION. i take the name from the music styles Be Bop, Chance Music, and Constructivism.
i am going to redo the I AM NOT A CELL PHONE ACCESSORY page too to make downloading individual songs easier.
Also i will be putting a selection of handpicked music from all four records and other goodies, up for download perhaps twice a month, or as i see fit, for you, which i will call THE SELECTION.
so lots coming from me.
making a live record means that i will be playing select shows (no pun intended) so be on the look out for that.
thanks for reading
LOVE.

Five steps to get the best rates on a car loan
Any person who has a good credit status can easily get credit for any loan. Aside from owning a home, most people have this dream of someday owning their very own set of wheels. A car is not just a luxury because owning one can make a difference between getting to important destinations on time and comfortably.
However, vehicles do not come cheap and people have to save and wait for years so they can buy a car. But there is a way for people to get their dream cars without having to wait for years and that is through a car loan.
As a general rule, only people who have very good credit ratings can be guaranteed a successful car loan application. Of course, others who have less than perfect credit ratings may still be able to get a car loan but that will definitely take time. A person who is planning to someday own a car should rake care of his credit rating.
A car loan is quite easy to get if a person has the right credit reputation and the documents to show for it. A car loan is easier to obtain compared to other loans because the car itself serves as a collateral or security for the loan.
Getting a car loan may b easier compared to other loans but a person has to pass through all the usual procedures like applying for the car loan and having his credit verified. A car loan is a big responsibility and so a person has to make sure he has a substantial income to pay for the car loan.
Anyone applying for a car loan will definitely want the best deal for him in terms of the interest rates and the term of payment. Companies providing car loans usually prefer to give out such loans on a short or medium term basis because cars depreciate after several years.
A person who wants to get a good deal on his car loan should consider the following steps so he can get the best rates in town.
1.Always deal with the car dealers.
Dealing with agents can make the whole process easier on the part of the car loan applicant. However, it can mean additional burden in terms of the commission which the agent will surely get out of the sale. A car dealer may be able to offer the buyer the lowest cost possible since they do not have to pay the agent?s commission. They may also be able to offer more benefits and perks f0r the borrower since they are directly dealing with him.
2.Choose a bank where you already have an established credit.
Getting credit from a bank that knows your credit history and that has already dealt with you in the past for other financial transaction can make the car loan easier and more efficient. Bank usually gives preference and privileges to a client who has a good credit standing.

President Obama has declared that electronic medical records will reduce error rates, reduce our long-term cost of health care and create jobs. (s Prime Time Press Briefing, The New York Times, Feb. 9, 2009.) Congress has authorized $19 billion to implement provisions of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 intended to accelerate the adoption and use of certified electronic health record technology during the next several years by hospitals and physicians that provide services to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. (H.R. 1, 111th Cong. §§ 4001-4201 (2009).) Professionals and hospitals that fail to implement EHR technology by 2014 stand to suffer reductions in Medicare reimbursements.
The goal of this campaign is to adopt EHR technology to replace the current paper and fragmented computer files maintained by the vast majority of hospitals and physicians. Imagine a health information technology system that includes all of a patients diagnoses, medical history, laboratory and test results, medications prescribed, payor claims data, hospital records and other pertinent data. That system would be available to a patients health plan, hospital, pharmacy and doctors. Payors and regulators also can use this type of system to reduce fraud, waste and duplication, as well as control processing costs and improve disease-state management programs. EHR technology promises to reduce medication and other medical errors and streamline clinical decision-making and communication.
That holy grail has been envisioned by many participants in the health care industry today, but unfortunately it is not achievable under the current patchwork of federal and state laws and most existing health IT systems. In its ambitious effort to hasten the advent of EHR for the 21st century, the federal government actually may be working at cross-purposes with privacy protections established under federal and state law. Heres why.

What information should your PHR contain? Obviously this will vary from person to person, but consider the following. The primary reasons for having a PHR would include:
You travel away from home, you have medical issues that need to be known to others if treatment is needed, you take medications and/or have allergies, have had recent procedures (whether normal or not)such as EKG, Stress test, lab reports, etc. In other words, any information that can guide healthcare providers to render the most timely and appropriate care under any circumstances.

Thus, your PHR might include:
Your name and photo ID
Medical Alerts ! Does something need to be known immediately (pacemaker, allergy, etc)
Emergency contacts : Family and physicians
Medical Insurance information (Plan #, copy of card)
Checklist of any conditions you may have (diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc)
Details on prior surgeries
Medications and allergies (ideally, past meds as well as current)
Copies or images of prior tests and procedures (Lab reports, EKG, Stress tests, etc)
Legal Documents: such as Advance Directive for Healthcare, Organ donation, etc.

Obviously the information applicable to each individual will vary. Reports, images, physician notes and hospital discharge summaries should all be available to you by simply requesting them from your providers.

In the case of MedicKey Personal Health Record, all of your information can be added easily, quickly and updated in just minutes. MedicKey is all pre-formatted to allow easy typed entry of information, and easily scan or transfer in documents and images.

When looking at a PHR, make sure it is easy for you to use, especially entry, edits and updates of your information. And, is it easy to "navigate", that is, are providers guided to quickly locate the information that might be needed and useful. Finally, look at security features (more on that later).

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Obama administration does not wish to reform our healthcare system by controlling all healthcare through the federal government. New Health Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, speaking on behalf of the White House, noted that Obama's proposed public health insurance option is intended to foster competition and keep prices low, not to oust private insurers from the marketplace entirely. Sebelius pointed out that federal government employees already have this public insurance option - Obama's reform proposal simply wishes to extend this to all Americans. Still, some conservatives argue that this type of competition will force private insurers out of business and damage the insurance market. They are likely to oppose the public insurance proposal.

video clip today caught my attention as Mark D. Smith, president and CEO of the California HealthCare Foundation discussed the Transformative Promise of Health IT. In his presentation, he talks about the need to resolve reimbursement issues in order to release us from the tyranny of the visit when unnecessary. In addition, he speaks passionately about the need for data reporting in order to reform the system based on solid information and the importance of thinking outside of the box in order to create new ways of doing things. According to Smith, Health IT should not simply wire the incumbents to do what they do more quickly, it should create new ways of delivering care more effectively. Strong words, but difficult to translate into action in a US healthcare system that is probably one of the most fragmented of any in the world. The $17 Billion stimulus package that will be made available to US physicians to adopt health IT (read EMRs) in their practices is already creating a feeding frenzy amongst both vendors and healthcare organizations as they try to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity. Out of the insanity, I believe there will be some reason and one thing that the Americans have always been good at doing is dealing with complex problems and adversity.
So, what does this mean (if anything) in the Canadian context? We cannot assume that our programs in Canada will simply be able to move ahead at our current leisurely pace, unaffected by changes occurring in the US. Many of the vendors that support our large hospital systems are US-based.

As many of you know, this week, HHS declared swine flu to be a national public health emergency. At AIDS.gov we're particularly concerned about this issue because people with compromised immune systems, including those living with HIV/AIDS, are more likely to become ill from diseases like the flu.
New media tools can help support our efforts to deliver public health messages quickly and broadly. We are using those tools to spread the word about the swine flu outbreak and to support the public health community's response to it. We ask you to join us in this important mission.

Using knowledge to create knowledge is the major concept of the emerging knowledge society. This way, knowledge becomes sustainable and a tool to realize the millennium goals. But to achieve this in the most effective way, we will have to make inventories of knowledge.
ICMCC (International Council on Medical Care Compunetics) is an international foundation operating as the knowledge centre for medical and care compunetics, making information on medicine and care available to patients using compunetics as well as distributing information on the use of compunetics in medicine and care to patients and professionals.
Knowledge is derived from the synthesis between information and experience. ICMCC is becoming the global guiding platform in bringing information and experience related to medical and care compunetics together, thus creating the necessary inventories of knowledge. As we are aiming at both the patient/citizen and the professional we also target and facilitate the shifting relationship between the two.

Think about the number of different medications your family members take. You may have a prescription from one doctor and a second prescription from another. On top of that you might be using over-the-counter medications, such as pain relievers, and maybe even trying to boost your health with herbal supplements.

The problem is that mixing medications without understanding the potential interactions between them can be harmful to your health.

In fact, a recent study by the Archives of Internal Medicine found a shocking 564 percent increase in at-home medication fatalities using prescription and over-the-counter drugs. This is compared to 5 percent in the clinical setting. The study cited the tragic death last year of Oscar-winning actor Health Ledger, who died from an accidental prescription-drug overdose in his New York City apartment.

According to David P. Phillips of the University of California at San Diego, the cited study’s principal author,
“The amount of medical supervision is going down and the amount of responsibility put on the patient’s shoulders
is going up.”

So what can you do to protect yourself and your family from potentially tragic drug-related interactions? The “Drug Interaction” tool built right into your MyMedicalRecords.com account is one great answer.

The Drug Interaction reference lets you quickly check for interactions on more than 20,000 prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and even some herbal supplements. You can easily access the feature from within the My Prescriptions section of your account and also from the Home page: www.mymedicalrecords.com. In fact, if youre not yet a MMR subscriber you can take advantage of a special free trial offer.

Social Security numbers, medical records and other personal data could get more protection from disclosure if a bill that passed its first legislative review Tuesday becomes law.
Assembly Bill 1094 by Assemblywoman Connie Conway, R-Tulare, is intended to plug a legal hole on how landlords should handle personal records that are abandoned in their offices, storage sheds or other property.

This is NOT a VA hate site. We believe the VA offers the best healthcare in this country. And independent studies by such prestigious organizations as the Rand Corporation prove it time and again. This site is designed to keep an eye on those who fund and run the VA... the politicians and the political appointees who don't have to worry about healthcare.

VA Watchdog dot Org will follow VA news and let you know about policy, regulation and benefit changes at the Department of Veterans' Affairs. And, what you won't find here is as important as what you will find. You won't find rumors, rants or conspiracy theories here... there are no Black Helicopters on this site.

The European Commission began legal action against the U.K. Tuesday over its failure to protect Internet users from Phorm a covert behavioral advertising technology tested by the U.K.s biggest fixed line operator, BT, in 2006 and 2007.
The move signals growing concern in Brussels over the way new Internet-based technologies are using peoples personal data. In addition to taking legal action against the U.K., the Commission also issued a general warning to all 27 E.U. countries to uphold privacy laws, especially regarding social-networking Web sites and users of RFID (radio frequency identification) technologies.
The Commission, the executive body of the European Union responsible for upholding laws, said the U.K. had failed to enforce E.U. data protection and privacy rules, because broadband Internet subscribers were not informed that their browsing was being tracked.
We have been following the Phorm case for some time and have concluded that there are problems in the way the U.K. has implemented parts of E.U. rules on the confidentiality of communications, said Viviane Reding, the E.U.s telecom commissioner.
She called on the U.K. to change its national laws and ensure that its national privacy authority is given greater powers to tackle privacy threats from emerging technologies. This should allow the U.K. to respond more vigorously to new challenges to eprivacy and personal data protection such as those that have arisen in the Phorm case. It should also help reassure U.K. consumers about their privacy and data protection while surfing the Internet, Reding said.
