What is Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of pure plant essential oils to promote health and wellness.
What Makes for Good Oil? In anything that is used on the body, especially if it is to improve health, it must be clean, purity and of high quality. Quality is a function of growing and harvesting conditions. Purity is the result of handling so that it is free of contaminants, undamaged and undepleated. So as not to damage the plant material, it must be picked by hand, and contain no trash parts. Also, the extraction process must not impart impurities, to the oil. When sold, pure oil is not cut, or diluted.
Concentrated Potency Essential oils are so very concentrated. They are potent beyond compare with fresh or dried herbs. Consider how much dried oregano you use in a recipe in the kitchen. Now consider it may take a roomful of the oregano to get a small ounce of the oil. Use one drop of oil and how many plant leaves did it take - perhaps a bushel? Because it takes so many pieces of plants to extract even a very small amount of pure oil, makes essential oils - especially those from certain plants, very expensive. They also must be harvested and handled by human hand so as not to damage the plant and the delicate oils it carries.
Reliable Sources This is why you are not going to find high quality oils that are suitable for therapeutic use available over the counter in stores, and especially not in the large discount and drug stores servicing the everyday needs of the general public. You certainly will not find them in scented plug ins, air fresheners and cheap scented candles. Good quality products involve a lot of care and effort and they also cannot be blending in any toxic base without ruining them and creating an unhealthy, non-therapeutic product. So, in spite of the widely bandied about use of the term today, let the buyer beware - unless you are buying real therapeutic products from a professional source, it is not really aromatherapy. In fact if used to refer to a pleasant smell that uplifts the emotions just because you find it so, the proper term is perfume, air freshener or disinfectant.
Chemotype vs. Chemistry Aromatherapy is not scent. It is the effect of a chemotype on the body system through absorption and assimilation. A nice small can affect our mood, but moreover, an essential oil affect s mood (and other things) by interaction with our body chemistry on a physical level. The essence of the plant is the part containing the chemotypes, or the chemistry of the plant, that which can affect other systems and react with other chemistries.
The Drawbacks of Extracting Chemotypes Occasionally some chemotypes are extracted and put into formulations. Although the chemotypes are the same, the quality and handing is not, and the extraction often negates the overall beneficial effect that is rendered by synergies of all elements and properties within the natural compound. A drop of pure essential oil is composed of a few or several chemotypes. It is the combination that gives it the unique properties. The chemotypes do not have the same effect or effectiveness when isolated and used alone. This is why natural medicine, essential oils and herbs and natural vitamins and minerals are far superior to those synthesized.
Science is Golden I am not saying that all manufactured products are bad. In fact through science, pharmaceutical companies are able to create compounds in which they can control variables such as release into the blood stream, absorption, dissolution and strength. Drugs are synthesized for the reason of being able to fashion control over action, to isolate chemotypes and lets not - forget profit margin. Scientists have tried to synthesize the chemotypes that have noted effects to make drugs because it is cheaper, faster and easier than properly cultivating real herbs.
Essential Oils at Work
Holistic Therapy Natural plant essences work on many levels, unlike a synthetic. They work on the emotional body and the spiritual body as well as our physical bodies. They affect our moods, and our environment as well. Because they work on many levels we could say they are more effective, as they do more things at once.
Cell Membrane Permeability The oils take effect by entering the bloodstream and thus the cells of the body, affecting tissues, organ systems and the nervous system. Whether inhaled, imbibed, or absorbed transdermally, they go into the body and blood and the molecules are small enough to pass the blood brain barrier, thus affecting our mind, moods and emotions. It is in this way that certain oils may act as anti-depressants, euphorics, sedatives or stimulants. Other oils can help balance the hormones, or act as aphrodisiacs by balancing hormones or mimicking pheromones.
How are Essential Oils Used?
Use by Professionals Essential oils are used in massage, in conjunction with bodywork, acupressure and reflexology to enhance the enjoyment and effectiveness of the work.
Benefits of Essential Oils in Massage pain relief muscle relaxation increased circulation mental relaxation reduction of inflammation Cleanse the lymph Cleansing -detoxification Toning organ systems Breaking down scar tissue Help break down fatty deposits Relieve ki blockages
Use in the Home Aromatherapy essential oils are easily used in the home. Try real aromatherapy candles and incense, or aromatherapy diffusers. There are many types for any room or situation. For yourself use aromatherapy bath salts, lotions, body oils and sprays.
Essential Oil Synergies Synergies are aromatherapy blends. The chemotypes of essential oils are like chemicals, (they are natural chemicals) combining with each other to create a new effect. They can also enhance, strengthen, buffer or reduce the effect of each other. Essential oil blends can be made to address any purpose through synergistic combinations.
Blends You Can Make at Home You can create your own blends at home. Experiment with scents to find what combinations you like. Make yourself aromas for your rooms, to lift your mood, to relax, for your bath. Aromatherapy is sage and enjoyable.

Alchemist Blends I love creating blends, and as such over the years have created a lot of blends which I will group into the following categories:
1. Therapeutic Blends 2. Meditation Blends 3. Therapeutic Perfumes.
Therapeutic Blends These are they are treatments, to address a specific need, illness or problem.
Meditation Blends Aromatherapy is the heart of meditation, used for centuries in temples and churches worldwide. It helps us to deepen the senses, connect with ourselves and with the other realms. It makes us open and receptive. It can also impart protection, invoke, and awaken. For centuries these precious essences have been valued for their spiritual and magical properties. . The church has for centuries used the potent effects in services, without of course imparting knowledge to the populace of how they work - or that they actually do work!
Aromatherapy of the Tarot By evoking the state of the archetype within ourselves through the oils embodying the spirit of the archetype, we find a powerful assist in moving forward on the path of spiritual and personal growth and self awareness. In certain types we need to draw upon a certain archetype and the blends helps us to find that.
How to Meditate with Essence Inhale the scent of the aromatherapy blend and let it sink you into a meditative state. In hale deeply and relax. You can apply to the skin in a carrier oil or inhale from the bottle. Diffuse the aroma into the air to permeate your surroundings and fill it with the energy of the archetype and pull you into a meditative state. For energy meditation, dab oils on the chakra centers.
Therapeutic Perfumes Do not settle for just the scent when it can be helping your health and wellbeing in some way. Get double value out of your scent. Some of the added benefits you could get form a perfume include: weight loss, appetite suppression, hormone balancing, controlling anxiety, and strengthening the immune system, detoxify and cleanse your body. These are just a few. Also real perfume, the fine kind, is made from essential oils, make them the oils you need and you are on your way to better health, that easily.
Common Sense Use These oils and blends are all natural and so are not FDA approved. These are not medicines. They are very helpful though for helping us to regain our natural balance and for helping with ailments and aches.
* IMPORTANT: For external use only. Keep away from children and pets. Not for use by pregnant or nursing women. Not for use by anyone with a seizure disorder. Careful to use proper oils with any blood disorder. Some oils raise blood pressure and some reduce it. Keep all natural; products tightly capped and in a cool place, out of sunlight.
Should I do a Book? I am constantly being asked for the recipes to my special blends. Until this site, I did not give out my secret formulas. Perhaps I will just put them in a book - the truth shall unfold.

It seems that lavender, or the scent of it, is everywhere – candles, hand lotions, shampoo, bath gel, air freshener, even laundry detergent. It’s the most widely used and best-selling essential oil. Why is lavender so popular?
According to Tim Blakley, aromatherapy author and educator, pure lavender essential oils offer benefits for the body, mind and spirit. “Lavender provides a calming and soothing effect that can help relax the user. It’s also emotionally uplifting and stimulating if one is feeling overwhelmed, irritable or distracted,” he explains.
To benefit from lavender, make sure you’re using pure essential oil and not a synthetic fragrance. Check the product label and look for the words “Lavendula angustifolia.” There are other types of lavender essential oil, but they come from inferior hybrids that don’t produce the optimum benefits of pure Lavendula angustifolia.
Blakley says it’s important to know the difference between synthetic fragrances and pure essential oils. “Synthetic, petroleum-based lavender fragrances do not provide the same effect as essential oils. They simply imitate the scent,” he says. “Fragrances are extracted from petrochemicals, while essential oils are distilled from plants, which are sustainable and renewable. Because the imitation scents are more apt to trigger adverse reactions such as irritation, headaches and toxicity, they aren’t appropriate for use in aromatherapy. Unlike the synthetics, pure essential oils are both therapeutic and smell great. I recommend Aura Cacia essential oils because they are 100 percent pure.”
It’s easy to purchase pure lavender essential oil and use it for yourself and around the house. Most natural products and health food stores carry essential oils, such as Aura Cacia, which also offers a full line of lavender aromatherapy products, including massage, bath, body care and more. Here are a few simple ways to take advantage of the aromatherapy benefits of lavender.
For yourself:

* Touch a drop of lavender oil behind your ears to alleviate motion sickness.
* Rub a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow case to help you sleep.
* A drop of lavender oil on a bug bite helps take away the swelling and itch.
* Apply diluted lavender oil to chapped or damaged skin to protect and soothe it. Massage the oil around scar tissue to reduce the appearance of scars.
* Diluted lavender oil applied under the arms acts as an effective natural deodorant.
* To relax and soak away tension, add six to eight drops of lavender oil to bath water.
* If you’ve spent too many hours in the sun, help cool sunburn by mixing several drops of lavender oil into cool water then spritzing onto skin.
* To help relax, light a candle and allow to burn for a few minutes, then add several drops of lavender oil to the melted wax.
* When you’re feeling irritable or mentally distracted, place a couple of drops of lavender oil on a tissue and inhale the scent to regain mental balance.
For your home:

* Add a few drops of lavender oil to your laundry rinse cycle for great-smelling clothes or linens.
* To freshen bed linens between washings, add a few drops to a spray bottle filled with water and lightly mist pillows and sheets before climbing in.
* Add 10 drops of lavender oil to a box of baking soda, mix well and let sit for one to two days. Sprinkle on rugs and carpets, wait one hour and then vacuum. The carpets will be clean and the whole house will smell fantastic.
* Eliminate smelly shoes by adding a few drops of lavender oil to the inner soles.
* Moths and flies don’t like lavender oil. Sprinkle it on the outside of your window frames to create a virtual insect barrier.
* Lavender has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties that make it a great household cleaner. To clean tubs, sinks and toilets, sprinkle baking soda and four to six drops of lavender oil onto a sponge and scrub, rinsing the area well.
An excellent educational video with practical uses is available at www.auracacia.com. You can also purchase 100 percent pure lavender essential oil while youre visiting the Web site.

According to industry estimates, on any given day an average consumer may use as many as 25 different cosmetic and personal care products, including shampoo, nail polish, aftershave and lotion, containing more than 200 different chemical compounds.
A common assumption within the cosmetics industry is that 70% of what is applied to the skin is absorbed into the body. It is not surprising, then, that many dangerous chemicals have gotten into our bodies, our breast milk and our children. Some of these chemicals are linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems that are on the rise in the human population.
Some chemicals found in a variety of cosmetics including phthalates, acrylamide, formaldehyde and ethylene oxide are listed by EPA and the state of California as carcinogens or reproductive toxins. While chemicals in any one product alone are unlikely to cause harm, repeated exposures to industrial chemicals from many different sources on a daily basis add up over time. Chemicals from multiple products used every day may also interact in the body, causing even more harm.
Because the toxicity of product ingredients is monitored almost exclusively by a self- policing industry body, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel. Because testing is voluntary and controlled by manufacturers, almost 90% of 10,500 ingredients used in personal care products have not been evaluated for safety by the CIR or anyone else (FDA 2000, CIR 2003). Therefore, companies routinely market products with ingredients that are poorly studied, not studied at all, or worse, known to pose potentially serious health risks.
Ill share some tips this week on not only what Ive done to get carcinogenic products out of my life, how I have nicer skin now than when I was in my 20s and 30s, and also how I save a lot of money every year on skin care products.
In Dr. Stephen and Gina Antczak in Cosmetics Unmasked point out how contaminated cosmetics and toiletries are more common than what we would like to believe.
An example of how carcinogenic cosmetics are, heres a quote from The Politics of Cancer Revisited
Cover Girl Replenishing Natural Finish Make-Up (a foundation) Procter Gamble, Inc. Labeled Toxic Ingredients BHA, carcinogenic: Talc, carcinogenic; Titanium Dioxcide, carcinogenic; Triethanolamine (TEA), interacts with nitrates to form carcinogenic nitrosamines; Lanolin, often contaminated with DDT and other carcinogenic pesticides. (Epstein, 1998, page 480)
Dr. Samuel Epstein, chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalilition and Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Illinois, School of Public Health at Chicago, and leading international authority on toxicology and the carcinogenic effects of contaminants in consumer products, warns women of the harmful chemicals that may cause unreasonable cancer risk to them.
He points out that it is unthinkable that women would knowingly inflict such exposures on their infants, children, and themselves if products routinely used were labeled with explicit warnings of cancer risks.
This is the problem I have with these big companies they continue to produce these products, and spend fortunes on glamorous advertising, and continue to expose us, the unsuspecting consumer, to such risks., especially when there are safe alternatives available.
When I was 13 years old I discovered that big companies didnt really have best interest at heart I heard Ralph Nader on the radio discussing pesticides on our foods. I was shocked, I couldnt believe that other people (big companies in particular) would do such a thing to their customers! I mean, hey, its customers who keep food on their table and a roof over their heads why in the world would anyone want to produce something that has the very real possibility of giving their bread and butter a horrible disease?
I was shocked back then but as the years passed and I pursued my hobby (label reading and learning what these nasty things were) I became angry and disgusted I vowed if there was any way to make a difference, that could make a difference, I was going to try my hardest.
And so my lifelong hobby evolved, growing more and more appalled that not only were people producing this horrible stuff but to make matters worse they manipulated, flat out lied, and went to all sorts of expensive extremes to convince us we needed their product and that, somehow, it was good for us, would make us more socially accepted and liked, and make us better than we were.
Many years ago, I stopped wearing make-up which was a difficult thing to do because my complexion was awful and all I wanted to do was hide it, cover it up and hope no one noticed how bad my skin was.
After 6-8 months of not wearing make-up I noticed my skin was looking much better, to the tune of a huge improvement. The only thing I was doing differently was not wearing make-up which allowed my skin to be more exposed to sunlight, i.e., natural Vitamin D (which is free).
It wasnt until I was in my late 30s that I started getting compliments on how young I looked and how beautiful my skin looked I never thought Id see the day when people would compliment my skin. I still get those comments today and I attribute that to what I do. Yup, its challenging to be brave and toss a small fortune of cosmetics, creams, lotions, pimple ointments and so forth, into the trash can but its worth it.
I think of all the thousands of dollars I had spent on that junk over the years, and then look at all the money I didnt spend on it over the past 20 years, and think wow, wasnt I smart to eliminate a ton of stuff from my life that could never enhance the quality of my life. And, I have a small fortune in my pocket to spend on things that DO enhance the quality of my life.

Most women are obsessed with taking care of their skin. They spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to make their skin look young, healthy and vibrant. The cosmetic and skin care industry has been having a heyday because no matter how the economy goes down, women will always spend for beauty to maintain that youthful look.
Advancement of technology has, too, been contributing a lot in improving the skin care industry by coming up all sorts of machines for skin treatments and medications. There are ways for predicting facial lines and wrinkles, pimples and treatments to prevent them from coming out or for medicating acne problems. Products like moisturizers, creams, facial wash, exfoliants and toners are continuously popping out of the market to somehow offer answers to different skin problems.
But most women these days cannot afford such hi-tech medications and treatments and just rely on their own skin care regimen hoping the products they have can at least solve half their skin problems away. Actually, you do not have to spend so much as celebrities do.
Your simple skin care routines at daytime and nighttime may just be the right choice. You just have to be guided on the products you use and of course your basic knowledge of your own personal skin type. It is important to know if you have very sensitive skin or not because anything that you might apply on your skin may lead to a high or a disaster. It is always best to take care of your skin using natural organic ingredients and products. You may even have them inside your kitchen rather than going to skin shops that often offer hi-end products.
Accurate information from credible sources can also be a great help. Skin care for young and aging women vary because as your skin matures, it becomes more and more vulnerable to physiological changes and environmental factors. Therefore, you need to be very careful in your application of treatments and medications.
Taking care of a 20-year old skin
After the adolescence stage, your acne problem has diminished leaving the skin of a young lady with a youthful glow, healthy, acne-free and vibrant. This is the stage when your skin is at its lovely peak. But this is no reason for you to lax in your skin regimen. It is at this stage that your skin needs most care because it is maturing meaning skin cell renewal drops to 28%, your dead skin cells does not come off easily and your skin becomes more vulnerable to external conditions making it a little bit drier.
The best way to take care of your skin at this stage is to regularly exfoliate your skin to eliminate old skin cells and start growing new ones. Also, avoid direct sunlight. It is better to inform you that exposure to sunlight accounts for most of the aging problems. If you cannot avoid going out in mid-day, be sure to bring an umbrella with you to cover up your skin and use a good natural moisturizer and apply it before and after your exposure.
Be cautious, too, of your smoking habits because this also contributes to the dullness of your skin. Smoking does not allow oxygen to get into the outer layer of your skin thus causing a premature aging effect meaning unwanted wrinkles around your mouth and god knows where. If you cannot quit smoking, be sure to counteract its effects by a regular cardio-vascular exercise.
Taking care of a 30-year old skin
If at 20, you are cautious in taking care of skin, much more during this stage because the external factors like pollution, smoking and sunlight start affecting the dermis making skin cell renewal even slower, collagen fibres loosening thus wrinkles are starting to appear.
At this age, it is very important that you have already regularized your skin care regimen which includes exfoliating, cleansing, moisturizing and protecting your skin from direct sunlight. It is also good to maintain a well-balanced diet regular intake of vegetables, fresh fruits, grains and fish, foods that are rich in antioxidants like Vitamin A, B, C and E. An abundant supply of these nutrients help the skin rejuvenate, repair itself, produce collagen, moisturize and stay healthy. Maintain your food as natural as possible and avoid those that are processed.
If you are drinking, try to lessen your habit already because alcohol has a bad effect on your skin. Alcohol deprives your skin of the needed nutrients and can cause the appearance of the red spider veins on your cheeks.
One of the most inexpensive skin care regimen that can be advised to you is drinking lot of water in a day at least 3 liters. It maintains your skins moisture. Try to also be cautious of your water intake. Only take filtered water to avoid excessive impurities like chlorine enter your body system.
Exposure to sunlight
Since direct exposure to sunlight is the primary cause of premature aging, it is best to know how you can protect yourself while outside under the sun.
Avoid sunlight exposure after 10 am as the heat becomes fiercer at mid-day. Always bring with you your sunscreen and apply it whenever you are outside, sunbathing or skiing. Keep in mind to wear clothes that will protect you from the harmful UV rays. Always drink plenty of water. Do not strain yourself too much with strenuous activities especially on a hot day. If you do get over-heated or sunburned, do the following procedures: Cool yourself under a lukewarm bath Apply a cold compress on your head and neck Have a glass of cool water beside you and sip frequently Take a rest Loosen tight.
If you religiously follow all these skin care regimen, then you do not have to worry of wrinkles soon. In fact, you may allow growing old gracefully and accept that your youthful skin will fade naturally and slowly enough to enjoy your life as a young woman and welcome your aging happily.

Lethrinops albus is not as colorful as other denizens of Malawi, but their understated beauty is a complement to their peaceful nature. Albus is a silvery fish, males developing a light blue-green to green-gold iridescent sheen on the body with orange and blue highlights in the fins and tail. Lethrinops are very peaceful fish, spending a good amount of their time sifting through the substrate for micro-invertebrates and crustaceans, their natural diet. In the aquarium, a well-formulated flake or pellet is sufficient, with occasional frozen meaty treats as an option. They need a rocky environment, but with areas of fine, open substrate to sift through, whether productive or not. Choose peaceful, non-aggressive tankmates that enjoy similar conditions.

Not long ago we were contacted by a woman in Maryland. Her hospital had received a grant from the Susan G. Komen Center, for a wellness/recovery program from women undergoing treatment for, or recovering from Breast Cancer. When I saw the words "For Mind, Body and Spirit" on the flyer, I knew that we had to have a part in it. She wrote asking for quotations, wanting to give each participant 5 mls of Lavender Oil, with a very limited budget. I knew if I quoted our wholesale pricing, we would be underpriced. (I saw the list of the companies she had asked to quote.)

But we REALLY wanted to be a part of this. So, rather than try to submit a "winning quote" we simply decided to donate the oils. This week, the last of 65 bottles of our Organic Bulgarian Lavender left for Maryland.

We are truly excited to be a part of this wonderfully supportive program.

Here's part of a press release we are drafting to send to some of the local papers, in hopes that someday such supportive programs will be available to the women of Middle Tennessee:

Nature's Gift was pleased to donate pure, organic clinical grade Lavender Oil as a part of the Self Care Kit given each participant. "We have seen our essential oils used in numerous research studies and case histories, among them various studies dealing with cancer treatments and the side effects of such treatments. It is a delight to be able to make the oils available in a "real life" rather than a research situation. We wait for the day that such support programs are available here in Middle Tennessee" said Marge Clark, founder and President of Nature's Gift.

The participants in the program are being advised that essential oils are a powerful plant based ancient healing modality. Lavender is an extremely versatile and safe oil that can be used to enhance sleep and relaxation, decrease stress, to soothe skin after radiation or other trauma, and to ease pain. They will be taught various methods of using this most popular and useful essential oil.

A diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer impacts not only the physical body but the emotional and spiritual being. Our Komen Breast Cancer Wellness Program allows us to deliver free support services and programs that care for the whole person, said Robin Luxon, Vice President, Clinical Services, Upper Chesapeake Health. . The program will involve a Caring for Me support program, exercise programs, support services including aromatherapy for mind, body and spirit during active treatment and recovery, support groups, nutritional services, and genetic counseling.

The new Caring for Me program includes an individual consultation with a board certified holistic care physician. Participants will receive a customized treatment plan covering diet, exercise, counseling, energy healing, environmental and personal care products, appropriate use of supplements, and stress reduction. Weekly Yoga and Tai Chi classes will be offered along with C.A.R.E.S. (Cancer Activity and Rehabilitative Exercise for Survivors), an 8-week individual exercise program facilitated by a trained physical therapist. Women living with breast cancer who are in active treatment or recovery can take advantage of individual massage therapy, acupuncture, or Reiki treatments. A bi-monthly healing touch support group offers biofield therapy to restore harmony and balance.

A domain name is actually a representation of an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses are usually recorded in numeric form while domain names are recorded in words. If you're looking to start a business, you should try to possess a domain name. The first thing to do is to register domain name but you need to ask why you should register domain name as soon as you start a business even if you don't use it yet.

Domain register process can be simple and pain-free if you understand what is required of you to register domain. All you need is the right domain name and an accredited registrar. Make payment and your name is all yours for keeps as long as you pay to maintain ownership of that domain name with an annual registration fee. Once you've enjoyed the benefits when you register domain name even if you don't intend to use it immediately, you will understand why so many companies park their domains until such time when they decide to use it or sell it.

Before you register domain, you should first search for an accredited domain registrar to help you with your registration process. Accreditations signify that registrars have met certain legal criteria so this will give you assurance that your dealings are safe if you register with such a company. Most registrars will also help you search for available domain names before you do your domain register.

Choosing a domain name can be tricky because you must choose a name that will be easily remembered by potential customers. Even if you're not intending to use your name just yet, you must know why you should register domain name as soon as you start a business even if you don't use it yet. Choosing and registering the right domain will protect your name from any competitors. Your domain name should represent your business while at the same time, be simple and catchy enough for people to remember it well.

Domain register will require you to provide your details for a successful registration, apart from making payment, that is. These details will normally be put out and made available on the World Wide Web unless you pay a fee and opt for a private registration. What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy uses essential oils that are thought to have healing properties. These oils are the concentrated essences taken from the flowers, fruit, seeds, leaves and bark of certain plants. There are about 400 essential oils, but only about 40 are commonly used in aromatherapy.
Aromatherapists believe aromatherapy can boost well being, relieve stress and help to refresh your body.  In other words, aromatherapy may improve your physical and emotional health.  The theory behind aromatherapy is that each essential oil has its own specific health benefit.  For example, lavender is said to help with sleeping problems, and to relieve muscle tension and anxiety.
Essential oils are usually massaged into the body, but they can also be
•    Added to a warm bath  - use up to 6 drops of an essential oil diluted with a carrier oil (or better still, a dispersing bath oil) in your bath
•    Put in a cold compress next to your skin or on a pillow or handkerchief
•    Added to a burner, so they are breathed in from the air
To inhale an essential oil, heat a few drops of the oil, mixed with water, in an oil burner or diffuser. The steam containing the oil will spread through the air in the room.  This is not recommended for people with asthma.
And if you have cancer you should not use any aromatherapy without advice from a qualified aromatherapist. There is more information about using aromatherapy safely further down the page.
How does aromatherapy work?
There are a couple of theories to explain how aromatherapy might work.  The first is that you directly absorb the oils through the skin into your bloodstream.  The oil can then travel through your body and have an effect on a specific organ or function in your body.
Therapists claim that many essential oils have an anti-inflammatory effect, which can help with arthritis and muscular pain.  Other oils may help with breathing problems or prevent or fight off infections by helping boost your immune system.
The second theory relates to your sense of smell.  The nerves used to smell are found high up inside your nose and they connect directly to your brain. Foods, flowers, perfumes and plants all release tiny molecules into the air and stimulate your smell (olfactory) nerve cells.  The cells send a message to your brain to interpret what the smell is. The smell can then set off a reaction in your body, both emotionally and physically.  For example, it might change your heart or breathing rate or make you feel calm or excited. Because essential oils can stimulate your sense of smell, it is thought that this process may play a part in the effects of aromatherapy.
Although we don’t know for sure, any healing effects from aromatherapy are most likely to come from a combination of the physical effects the oils have on the body (smell and absorption into the bloodstream), as well as how they work on your mind and spirit.
Why do people with cancer use aromatherapy?
As with many types of complementary therapies, people with cancer use aromatherapy because it makes them feel good, and is something they can do to help themselves.  Therapists promote aromatherapy as a natural way to help you relax and cope with
•    Anxiety
•    Pain
•    Depression
•    Stress
Generally, aromatherapy can help lift your mood and enhance your wellbeing.  There is some evidence to support these benefits.
Some people also claim that aromatherapy can help to
•    Boost your immune system
•    Fight off colds and bacterial infections
•    Help with period (menstrual) problems
•    Improve circulation and urine output
•    Relieve headaches and digestion problems
There is no scientific evidence to prove any of these claims.
Evidence to support the use of aromatherapy
There is no scientific evidence to prove that aromatherapy can cure or prevent any type of disease, including cancer.  But there are a few studies to suggest that aromatherapy may be a helpful complementary therapy for people with cancer and other types of illness.
An American study published in The Journal of Palliative Medicine in 2004 looked at the use of massage and aromatherapy in 42 people who had advanced cancer.  These people were divided into 3 groups
•    Group 1 were given weekly massages over 4 weeks
•    Group 2 were given massages using lavender oil
•    Group 3 had no massages at all
At the end of the trial, people in groups 1 and 2 were sleeping much better and had less depression than those in group 3.
In 1998 a UK study looked at the effects of aromatherapy in 58 cancer patients.  Most of these patients were women with breast cancer who said that they would like aromatherapy to help them with feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and fear.  Each patient had 6 aromatherapy treatments during the study.  At the end of these treatments all the patients showed a significant improvement in their feelings of anxiety, depression and stress.
In 1999 a study assessed the effects of aromatherapy massage and massage therapy on 103 people with cancer in a palliative care setting.  Some people had massage using only a carrier oil, and some had an aromatherapy massage with the essential oil Roman Chamomile.  People in both groups had lower levels of anxiety.  But those who had Roman Chamomile oil massage did seem to have more improvement in physical and psychological symptoms and in overall quality of life.
Both these studies are small and don’t provide enough evidence to come to any conclusions about the true benefits of aromatherapy massage in people with cancer.
The Cochrane Collaboration carried out a ‘systematic review’ in 2004 of the studies on aromatherapy and cancer.  This means that they looked at the published results of all the trials investigating the effects of aromatherapy massage and massage therapy on people with cancer.  They pull all the information together to draw their conclusions.
This systematic review concluded that massage and aromatherapy massage does improve people’s emotional well being in the short term.  These therapies may also have an effect on physical symptoms.  There was not clear evidence to show that aromatherapy added to the effects of massage.  We need much larger trials, and a longer follow up period after the trials, to know if this is the case.
You can read this Cochrane Review ‘Aromatherapy and massage for symptom relief in patients with cancer’ in full on the Cochrane Collaboration website.
A UK trial in 2007 tested whether adding aromatherapy massage to usual supportive care could reduce anxiety and depression in patients with advanced cancer.  280 patients took part and they all had anxiety or depression.  Half the patients had usual supportive care.  The other half had supportive care plus aromatherapy massage.  The researchers found that patients who had aromatherapy massage were less anxious or depressed for up to 2 to 6 weeks after the massage but there was no difference at 10 weeks.
There have been reports that inhaling the following oils can relieve the sickness caused by the cancer treatments chemotherapy and radiotherapy
•    Peppermint
•    Ginger
•    Cardamom oil
But there is no scientific evidence to prove these reports.
Look at what’s new in complementary and alternative therapy section to find out if there is any current research going on into the use of aromatherapy in people with cancer.
What having aromatherapy involves
This all depends on how you use the essential oils for aromatherapy.  You can
•    Have an aromatherapy massage from a trained therapist (aromatherapist)
•    Use essential oils yourself at home in various ways - in a bath, oil burner, humidifier or diffuser
•    Use beauty products that contain aromatherapy oils
Have an aromatherapy massage from a trained therapist
When massaged into the skin, essential oils are diluted with another oil, usually vegetable oil.  This vegetable oil is called the carrier oil because it ‘carries’ the oil to the skin.  Essential oils are very concentrated so must be diluted.  If used neat, they could cause serious skin irritation.
When you have your first aromatherapy massage the therapist will ask you some general questions about your health, lifestyle and medical history.  If they are concerned about anything, they may ask your permission to speak to your GP.  This is just to check that your GP is happy for you to have aromatherapy.  In general, it is rare that the GP will say no.  But there may be situations where your doctor recommends that you don’t use aromatherapy.
The aromatherapist will choose the oils that they feel will treat your symptoms and help you most.  They will massage the oils gently into your body.  An aromatherapy massage session usually lasts between 60 to 90 minutes.  Your therapist might play some relaxing music during your massage.  It is important that you tell the therapist if you feel uncomfortable at any time or want them to stop.  But generally most people say that having an aromatherapy massage is very relaxing and soothing.
Using essential oils yourself at home
You can add essential oils to water and use them in an oil burner at home.  This way you can enjoy their pleasant smells and possible relaxation benefits whenever you like.  Some people say that adding a few drops of certain oils to boiling water and inhaling them helps to relieve symptoms such as breathing problems and a blocked nose.  Others claim that putting a few drops onto your pillow or handkerchief can have the same benefits.
People also add essential oils to a warm bath to help with
•    Relaxation
•    Sleeping problems
•    Clearing up dandruff or acne
It is important not to put too much oil in though as this can cause skin irritation and cystitis in some people.
Using beauty products that contain aromatherapy oils
Aromatherapy products have become a huge part of the beauty industry.  There are now soaps, hair care products, face and body oils, creams and lotions that all claim to be aromatherapy.  However, unless the label of the product specifically states that only pure essential oils are used, it is very likely that the scents are man made (synthetic).  This means that they won’t give you any real aromatherapy benefits. Essential oils should be used carefully, so don’t add them to any beauty products without advice from an aromatherapist.
Possible side effects of aromatherapy
Essential oils are generally safe if you use them in the correct way. Some oils can cause a skin reaction or an allergic reaction. Never use them on skin that is sore, inflamed, or broken.
You should never swallow an essential oil, or put the oil directly inside any other part of the body (eye, ear, nose, anus or vagina).  Oils are sometimes used in this way in France by aromatherapy practitioners but care is needed as they can be poisonous and harmful when taken in this way.
Using aromatherapy safely
For most people, using aromatherapy is safe.  But there are always exceptions.  If you have cancer don’t use aromatherapy without getting advice from a qualified aromatherapist who is experienced in treating people with cancer, and letting your cancer doctor know. This is even more important if you are having treatment or
•    Are pregnant or breastfeeding
•    Are trying to get pregnant
•    Have fits (for example, with epilepsy)
•    Have asthma
•    Have kidney disease
You should also tell your doctor and aromatherapist if you are taking other medicines or homeopathic remedies. Some essential oils could interact and make these drugs or therapies weaker or stronger. Never use essential oils on children unless you have checked first with an aromatherapist.
The cost of aromatherapy treatments
A private aromatherapy massage will usually cost between £20 and £60 for a 60 to 90 minute treatment.  It is very important that you choose a qualified therapist to treat you. There is information about finding a therapist further down this page.
Many cancer centres and hospitals in the UK now offer patients aromatherapy massages free of charge.  So always ask your nurse or doctor if this is available where you are having your treatment.  If not, they may be able to direct you to a voluntary organisation that offers complementary therapy treatments for free or at a reduced cost.  Look in our complementary therapy organisations section for a list of organisations that can give you advice about where to get an aromatherapy massage.
The cost of essential oils varies depending on the quality and quantity you buy.  It is best to buy oils in small quantities as they don’t last very long once you open them.  You should keep essential oils in a cool dark place, or in the fridge, and out of reach of small children.

Not only can you have your articles published online for millions of people to easily find, but because we want to build a massive collection of high quality content we are willing to pay authors for submitting their articles to Content Caboodle.
Here's how it works. As a basic "Author", the entry level for all new authors who register, you'll receive $3.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views to your articles. How easy is it to receive 1,000 page views? If you have 4 articles published that would be just 250 views each. If you have 8 articles published then it is just 125 views to each.
Once you've published several articles as a basic Author and they have collectively received a certain number of page views you will be upgraded to "Premium Author". As a Premium Author you will receive $4.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views your articles receive, including the ongoing accumulated page views to articles published while you were a basic Author.
And finally, after having a certain number of articles published as a Premium Author you will again be upgraded to "Expert Author" status, at which time you will receive $5.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views to your articles from then on.
Every article you have published here will continue to earn you money for page views for as long as people keep reading them on ContentCaboodle.com--and the more you participate as an author the higher status level you will reach to increase the amount your articles earn for you.
Author payouts are made on a monthly basis, and issued via PayPal.com on the 26th of each month for the preceeding period. For example, the amount earned during the month of June would be sent to your PayPal.com account on July 26th. We are hoping to make the payout date earlier than the 26th each month sometime soon, however all page view earnings are totaled and verified manually to avoid manipulations and this process takes time.

It is said, that “If you go deep enough into my mind, and deep enough into your mind, We are all one.” What does that mean? Our minds are capable of the same thoughts, the same feelings, we are all capable of the same actions. That is a daunting concept for many, even those who have spent time studying Philosophy and Spiritual Theory. It speaks of a lack of uniqueness and individuality. But, yet it shows the capability of Life and Beyond. It calls out for deep connection among souls. And that connection is something that we all yearn for, whether we realize it or not. When we find that connection, it is Magic. Pure Magic.
Aromatherapy is Magic. It stimulates a reawakening of our souls. It opens up our hearts to possibilities, Infinite Possibilities.

Well everyone knows that First Lady Michelle Obamas style has been the subject of a lot of conversations lately because the recent G-20 was a really fashion show in many ways. Indeed, the whole point of the top 20 leaders of the democratic world meeting for a few days in London was to talk about ways of improving the crumbling international economy. But, lets face it, you could NOT open a newspaper or read a web site without hearing about Michelle Obamas fashion even CNN joined in and had daily fashion-flashes of the First Ladies designer  choices.
I know I might be a tad bit controversial here because contrarily to so many people Im not always taken by Michelle Obamas fashion sense and in some case I cringe when I see her choices. I still cannot believe the Isabelle Toledo lime green inaugural ensemble paired with forest green kitten heels. In my book, that was wrong-wrong-wrong.
Heres also where I diverge from a lot of people: I say STOP comparing Michelle Obama to Jacqueline Onasis Kennedy - PLEASE STOP! They have distinct styles of their own and there have been forty years of fashion between the two First Ladies.

In my opinion, Electronic Magazine (Ezine) advertising is the greatest, untapped source of online advertising available today.
The reason: Ezine Advertising (EA) matches your product or idea to people with similar interests.
Example: who better to sell your health product to than a large group of people subscribed to a health newsletter? Or, you could
pitch a business opportunity to a group already subscribed to another ezine about MLM and Biz Ops!
The idea of EA is fairly simple - but to make yours a success, you have to first determine which ezines or newsletters produce
results, and which ones to avoid.
After a year and a half of EA, Ive created a formula that produces increasing profit because Ive learned how to avoid poor
performing ezines and rip offs, while revealing the gems.
Strategy for Profit
I used to get ripped off about once for every 2 or 3 ezines I advertised in. They either took my money without running my ad
(and ignored my subsequent emails), or my proven ads did too poorly for the money I paid.
The reasons ranged from abandoned ezines with working payment links, unethical newsletter owners, to a lot of ignorance and
impatience on my part.
If you follow my proven strategy, youll discover the best sources of ezines to advertise in - no matter who your target
group is. And, you should see positive results every time.
This article outlines the steps to making your EA a successful return on investment (ROI).
Writing Your Ad
I wont go into details about ad writing, but if your ad is poorly written or untested, you should start with the cheapest
ezines first. If youre really unsure of your writing abilities, I further suggest hiring a professional to write your ad for you.
Because you can run your ad as many times as you want, your investment in a professional will more than pay for itself in the
end.
Target your advertising
If you leap into EA without first researching your target group, youll end up wasting a lot of time and money. Plus, you probably
miss some of the best ezines available.
To determine who your prospect is, take the time to list the possible keywords that directly relate to your product and do
keyword searches for ezines, newsletters, and ezine directories.
For example, if you sell herbs, a good keyword search would include: herbs, health, nutrition, supplements, etc.
Avoid Co-ops
While doing your ezine research, you will probably stumble upon the offer to use Co-op (bulk) advertising as the means for your
EA.
To be blunt, you should never pay to use Co-ops for your EA because they are too difficult to track and usually contain
untargeted ezines. Worse still, youd find that most never run your ad.
Subscribe
Now that youve found your ezine target group, youll want to know whether the ezines you found are a good option (i.e.
profitable) for your EA.
Ive found the best strategy for making this determination is to subscribe to the targeted ezines.
To keep the subscriptions readily available for further research, I recommend creating a separate folder to store your subscription
data.
And because youll need to subscribe to quite a few ezines, I also suggest creating separate email accounts dedicated to your
ezine subscriptions.
Double Opt-In Subscriptions
In the process of subscribing, youll quickly determine possible ezines to avoid. When you subscribe and get a notice that you
must confirm your subscription, the ezine is referred to as double opt-in.
Double opt-in ezines indicates a better quality of subscribers with a lower risk of bulk email addresses. For you and me, this
means better ad responses (yeah!).
Solo Ads
Within the first week of your new ezine subscription, you should see solo ads from other advertisers. If not, the ezine may be too
new, or worse, no one is advertising because of poor results. Worse yet, the ezine took the advertisers money and failed to
run the ad.
On the other hand, if you see two or more solo ads a day, their list is probably burned out due to over advertising. Youre looking
for no more than one ad a day, or a minimum of one ad a week. Keep watching!
Subject Line
Does the ezine put the advertisers subject line in the subject of the email or do they just say something like Solo ad from xyz
ezine?
Your subject line is the most important part of your ad and definitely should be in the subject of the email. No subject line
equals no response.
Advertiser Response
Repeat (or regular) advertisers in an ezine is a very good sign that the subscribers are responsive. To further test
responsiveness, I recommend looking through the ezines online archives (if available).
Archives are previous email publications that the publisher has posted to their website for visitors to view. The archive search is
not only quick and easy, but archives can also provide an extra trickle of visitors when your ad gets archived.
Testimonial Page
After passing the above steps, see if your prospective ezine has a testimonial page. If the ezine has gotten this far, chances are
it will.
Waiting Period
The best indicator of responsive subscribers is the waiting period to run an ad in the chosen ezine. If the waiting period is a
month or more, this indicates a very popular ezine with responsive readers. Youve uncovered a real gem!
Web Forms
Ive found that the better ezines have web forms that get your ad to the publishers inbox and usually send auto confirmation of
receipt. If there is no web form, try emailing the publisher a question first, like when the next ad run date is.
No response may indicate a poor choice in the ezine, or your email was filtered or blocked as spam. Wait at least 2 days and
try emailing again using a different email account.
If your emails still dont get through, neither will your ad. (Ironically, your payment always go through). Trust me, if
they fail to communicate, save your money and time and move on.
Free Classifieds
If the ezine offers free classifieds, this is another good place to run your ad. Since classifieds usually dont produce
responses, any activity from your ad here would further indicate an active readership.
Ad Tracking
Never advertise without using an ad tracker. You can purchase one or better, use one of the many available online for free. Ad
trackers give you a url that you use in place of your website address.
The new url gives you important information like how many visitors you had, where they came from, and some list the number of sales
per visitor.
This tracking information is crucial to the direction of your ad campaign because youll learn of the need to change your ad
and/or the sales page. More importantly, youll know for certain whether the ezine produced enough visitors for the advertising
price you paid.
Run Your Ad Twice
If your ad produced a great response, wait a week or two and run the ad again in the same ezine. Ive found youll probably get as
good if not better results the second time around.
I would advise against running the ad a third time in a row because most of your prospects will be found in the first two runs.
Rotating Ads
Once your ad has been tested and you have a base of 5-10 solid, performing ezines, start rotating your ad between your ezines.
For optimal results, make sure 2-3 months have passed before running your ad in the same publication. Keep building your base
and watch your profits grow!
Greg Root has been using ezine advertising almost exclusively since 2003 and owns and maintains The Ezine Ad Tester. See the results of his ezine advertising campaigns to find the best ezine marketing resources on the internet.

Most of the population has at least one or two health problems - and the group entrusted with the health of the population hasn’t a clue why.
At the same time, literally hundreds of different, unnatural chemicals are put on or in most humans each and every week. These chemicals come into our bodies regularly from foods and personal care products. Unfortunately, few people know about the extensive use of unlabeled, “behind the scenes chemicals” in foods and even fewer understand that all of these chemicals accumulate in our organs, cells and tissue - and actually have an effect on the body. And, let’s be clear, it’s not a positive effect.
Do you think that it’s possible that all of this sickness has something to do with all of the unnatural chemicals we’re putting into and onto our bodies - several times each day? To solve a problem, we really have to understand the cause of the problem - and with our highly chemical diet and lifestyle habits, understanding the cause of so many health problems is not all that difficult.
So while Washington argues over who is going to pay for the expensive and toxic drugs designed to mask the symptoms of disease, I’d like to suggest different solution. Hold on, it’s a radical departure from the norm, based on only one thing: common sense.
Ban pesticides in foods. Make genetically modified foods illegal. Make it illegal to irradiate foods. Ban most all of the unnatural chemicals used in foods. Ban most all of the chemicals used in personal care products. Ban most all chemicals used in any form in the body. Encourage the planting of trees to clean the air supply.
Open detoxification centers across the country, where people can do body cleansing to remove all of their stored toxicity. Fortunately, deep cleansing methods can remove a great deal of the waste that the average person has stored in their body - methods like colon cleansing and liver cleansing can be very effective in eliminating huge stores of toxicity.
With this, we’d eliminate the healthcare crisis, because most people simply wouldn’t have health problems anymore. Sure, there might be the rare occasion, but certainly not in the numbers that we have them today. It’d be a huge loss for pharmaceutical companies, their profits would shrink dramatically. But do we really want a world that profits so heavily from sickness anyway.

Aromatherapy oils have many therapeutic benefits that extend beyond them improving mood by simply smelling nice! It is these benefits that can be combined with self-massage to improve the appearance of cellulite. Whilst even the most expensive store-bought creams and treatments wont eliminate cellulite permanently, the appearance of cellulite can be improved with regular treatments, and this extends to in-home remedies. This article will discuss why self-massage can help, and what aromatherapy oils and carrier bases lend themselves to this home spa experience. With a little daily persistence, these nurturing remedies can save you some money too!
There are three essential oils that are particularly recommended for cellulite treatment. These are juniper, lavender, and rosemary. Juniper and rosemary are both diuretic oils that stimulate the flow of blood and lymph, improve circulation, and reduce puffiness, swelling, and water retention. These qualities are important in relation to cellulite when you consider that it is the result of fluid accumulation in the fatty layer of the skin. This happens when there are problems in the microcirculation, and its believed to be associated with our hormones - especially estrogen.
Lavender is a beautifully scented oil that is relaxing and great for stress. But it also has benefits for the skin. It is toning, and has a revitalizing effect. When these oils are combined with a therapeutic carrier oil, they can be massaged into the skin for a good alternative cellulite remedy.
Carrier oils are important when using aromatherapy. Not only do they have a nourishing effect on their own, but some oils can be irritating when applied directly to the skin. This is especially true of sensitive skin types. Another point to consider is that the essential oils are usually quite thin compared to regular oil, and more expensive when you compare volume. The carrier oil allows the essential oil to be massaged, rather than being absorbed too quickly. And massage is integral to using aromatherapy effectively when it comes to cellulite.
Massage is well known in helping with circulation. Certain types of massage are specialized in improving the flow of lymph. Called lymphatic drainage, this massage is characterized by very soft strokes that go in certain directions associated with the bodys circulatory system. In contrast, some types of cellulite treatments that mimic massage in different ways - by incorporating suction cups and other tools - draw on the tradition of deep tissue massage. The upshot of all this is that people wanting to try this form of home massage have a choice in what type of strokes and pressure they will use.
There are a number of different carrier oils that can be used. These include rosehip, jojoba, grape seed, and avocado oil. Some of these oils are generally used in smaller amounts, so a mixture is actually good.
* Avocado - this oil penetrates deeply, thus it will carry the essential oils more deeply into the skin, increasing their effectiveness. It also has a softening effect, and tends to be mixed with other carrier oils.
* Grape seed oil has a mild astringent effect, which is good for toning the skin. Also quite nourishing, grape seed has linoleic acid in it, an essential fatty acid. Essential fatty acids are important for healthy cell membranes. Grape seed oil can be used in larger quantities, and is often used as a base with other carrier oils mixed in.
* Rosehip also contains essential fatty acids, this time GLA. Whilst generally used as an anti aging oil on the face, it is a good source of vitamin C which is important in skin health.
* Jojoba - though actually a liquid wax, jojoba is similar in structure to the oils in our skin, and has antioxidant properties. It is more expensive and is absorbed quickly, making it best in mixture of carrier oils when used in an anti-cellulite massage.
Aromatherapy cellulite remedies can be a lovely experience, providing benefits on many levels.
